Cybercriminals have resurfaced in Andorra with a financial investment scam, this time using an image of Head of Government Xavier Espot as bait, according to warnings from previous victims.
Individuals who lost money in an earlier version of the fraud—promoted using a fake endorsement from a well-known local doctor—have alerted news outlet Altaveu to the renewed scheme. The scammers previously operated under domains like IA Factor or AIFactor, and have now shifted to nanocoreigital.com.
The fraudulent offer promises extraordinarily high returns on investments, claiming investors will profit while supporting Andorra's economic growth. It advertises a minimum subscription of €250, with potential earnings of thousands of euros in days and up to €29,000 monthly through supposed Bitcoin technology.
Victims from the prior wave recounted falling for the scheme because it appeared backed by a trusted physician, whose likeness was fabricated using artificial intelligence. Several people have recently contacted Altaveu to flag the new portal, emphasising that the promises are obvious fakes yet still ensnare some residents.
Authorities have not yet issued public statements on the latest reports, but the pattern mirrors common phishing tactics targeting Andorra's financial sector. Experts urge caution with unsolicited high-yield investment pitches, especially those invoking prominent figures or national development.
