Andorra la Vella has announced the programme for its 68th Theatre Season, running from 4 March to 8 May, featuring four varied adult shows spanning clowning, local drama and dance-theatre. A parallel children's season offers three productions from 7 March to 9 May, with plans to integrate it into joint programming with Sant Julià de Lòria starting next year.
Deputy Consul Olalla Losada emphasised the shift away from past themed lineups, calling this edition "diverse" to appeal widely through humour, innovative staging and dance. "Our obsession is to keep delivering quality while satisfying all kinds of viewers," she said during Thursday's presentation. Culture department head Jan Cartes praised the mix as multifaceted, noting it avoids narrowing focus on one style.
The adult programme kicks off on 4 March with Pepa Plana's *A cada pas*, a silent reimagining of Winnie from Samuel Beckett's *Oh, els bons dies*, where she escapes her sand mound in a poetic, absurd exploration of resilience, hope and dignity. Cartes dubbed Plana the "quintessential Catalan clown." With the FIPA clown festival paused until 2027, she will also run a 12-hour intensive workshop for those aged 16 and over—amateurs and professionals welcome—on 1-3 March for €84.
Next, on 21 March, comes the Andorran production *Abrakadabra*, a co-production by ENA and Andorra Crea tied to the cross-Catalan *Cap butaca buida* project. Francesc Cuéllar's *Honestedat*, starring Míriam Iscla and Dafnis Balduz, follows on 16 April, delving into friendship limits, consent, authority, professional duty and artistic boundaries through a conflict over an actress withdrawing from a nude scene. Sol Picó ends the adult slate on 8 May with *Malditas plumas*, her 2020 show blending dance, theatre, dialogue and audience participation to chart a Barcelona Paral·lel vedette's life.
Adult tickets are €20, with standard discounts, available from Monday 9 February via the commune website, Centre Cultural La Llacuna, the tourist office or theatre box office on performance days. Technical updates to the ticketing system have caused a short delay.
The children's lineup starts 7 March with La Guilla Teatre's *Bruixanteris*, following a witch raising a girl towards independence; Cia. Giramàgic's multidisciplinary *KariGuri*, described as "visual poetry in motion," arrives 18 April; and Ka Teatre's *Sota Sola* closes 9 May, a puppet tale of an underground shoemaker imparting values. Adult tickets cost €4, free for children, plus 50% discounts for select groups.
Andorra la Vella and Sant Julià de Lòria, which already share adult programming, will extend collaboration to children's shows from the 69th season. Losada said joint efforts nationwide yield stronger, broader lineups. Sant Julià culture councillor Teresa Areny pointed to recent auditorium renovations, including the rebuilt Centre Cultural after a 2022 fire, as enabling stable family programming to draw young audiences with fresh ideas.
