The second edition of the Fira del Vermut d’Alçada will be held on 16 and 17 May in La Cortinada, Ordino parish, focusing on premium vermouth and quality local gastronomic products while aiming to energise the area and extend cultural and tourist activities beyond the main parish centre.
Ordino councillor for Education, Culture, Youth and Social Welfare Mònica Armengol and Toni Corominas, editor of Menja’t Andorra, unveiled details of the event on Tuesday. They highlighted new features including a picnic area for greater visitor comfort and a popular arrossada on Saturday, limited to 200 places.
Armengol described the fair as a gastronomic and cultural experience that celebrates local products and traditions, particularly vermouth. "We want it to offer quality items in a space for sharing with friends and family, at a more relaxed pace amid the parish's beautiful surroundings," she said.
The programme features around ten stalls and 13 food trucks, alongside diverse activities. On Saturday, it opens at 10am with a guided walk through Riberamunt, including visits to the Cal Pal mill and sawmill. The official inauguration follows at noon, coinciding with tastings such as Espinaler products. Other highlights include a workshop on crafting herbal liqueurs, the arrossada at 2pm, live music from Old School, DJ Helder sets, talks like "What is vermouth?", a FORA Gin tasting, and flair bartending by Spanish champion Yonny Aguilar.
Sunday runs from 10am to 4pm, with another Riberamunt guided walk, cultural visits to Mina de Llorts, Aura de Mel tastings, Lady Scarlett Trio performances, and a popular vermutada with wines and tapas. Workshops on tasting and production—some requiring advance booking—guided walks open to all, and cultural and musical events span the weekend.
Local restaurants will offer special vermouth-linked menus and dishes. Entry is free, but workshops, guided visits and the arrossada need prior registration online or in person at the Comú's Tràmits area. Organisers urge early booking, especially for the arrossada.
