Movistar Plus+ will premiere its original series *Por cien millones* on 26 March, a three-episode drama inspired by the 1981 kidnapping of FC Barcelona striker Enrique Castro 'Quini'. The production revisits an event that gripped Spanish football and society during the early 1980s, blending dramatic tension with comedic elements to explore the human and social fallout.

Created by Nacho G. Velilla and Oriol Capel, the 50-minute-per-episode series shifts focus from pure crime thriller tropes to the motivations and contradictions of those involved. It centres on three unemployed mechanics from Zaragoza—Alfonso, Raúl, and Salva—struggling amid Spain's economic hardship and high unemployment. Lacking any criminal experience, they devise a plan to abduct Quini, one of La Liga's top goalscorers at the time, demanding a ransom of 100 million pesetas—a vast sum in that era. Their scheme quickly spirals out of control, triggering a series of unforeseen consequences.

Raúl Arévalo, Vito Sanz, and Gabriel Guevara lead the cast as the kidnappers, with Agustín Otón portraying Quini. Supporting roles feature Aixa Villagrán, Natalia Huarte, María de Nati, and Josele Román.

Filming took place across several Spanish cities including Madrid, Barcelona, and Zaragoza, as well as in Switzerland, to authentically recreate the real-life locations. The series captures not just the abduction but its broader impact, which extended far beyond the sports world and became a major media phenomenon.
