Ordino will reprise its 'Cota 1.300' après-ski event next month, extending it from four to six weekends, according to Tourism, Revitalisation and Sports councillor Jordi Serracanta.
The initiative, first launched last season in the heart of Ordino village, returns from 17 January to 28 February. Originally designed as an alternative to traditional après-ski gatherings at the ski resorts—starting at 5pm on Saturdays when the lifts close—it quickly drew a mainly local crowd rather than downhill skiers.
"We thought we might attract some tourists from the ski station, but we realised more people came from the country," Serracanta told Altaveu. He emphasised the need to cater to domestic visitors, including residents from other parishes and those in their 40s or 50s seeking options beyond venues like Abarset, which he noted has changed from its former appeal.
The event has become a social hub, blending music and gastronomy for families and friends. Serracanta highlighted how it filled a gap in social gatherings: "People used to say, 'We only see each other at the Roser festival.' Now they also meet at Cota 1.300." Attendees came from across Andorra's parishes, boosted by word-of-mouth.
Gastronomy proved a standout feature, with some restaurateurs already requesting spots for this year. "If it's consolidating, why not do things like this even in peak season?" Serracanta said, underscoring its success despite running during high tourist periods.
