Sant Julià de Lòria will host the 17th Ruta de la Tapa from May 6 to 10, with 15 establishments offering tapas and drinks for €4 each, totaling €60 to complete the full route.
Key features this year include a new prize for the healthiest tapa, sponsored by stem cell bank Cellab and tied to the subsequent Andorra Microbioma, Immunoteràpia i Càncer (AMIC) jornadas. Cònsol Menor Sofia Cortesao described the award as part of an ongoing initiative linking gastronomy, research, and health, with judging focused on ingredients and preparation methods. It joins seven main prizes for restaurateurs: €500 and €400 from Heineken, plus €300 each from Unida Qualitat i Prevenció, Cellap, Construccions Pujal i Santamaria, and Cosan. The best sweet tapa category returns, contested by the two dessert-offering venues. The jury features chefs Christian Sansa and Sergi Ballés, alongside former winner and ex-Fusió manager Jordi Roig.
Participant rewards have grown to 150 lots, up 20 from last year. Eight establishments will open Sunday midday to ease route completion, with details listed in the official booklet and voting handled digitally. To qualify for draws, visitors must collect stamps from all 15 sites during operating hours; takeaways and votes are valid only then.
Highlights among the dishes include Cruixent de Moe, Delicia de porc i bolets from Rabassa, mini francesinha, panipuri, and bombó mariner, with alcohol-free and gluten-free options available.
Cortesao positioned the event as a spring opener leading into summer activities, energizing restaurants, local businesses, and community bonds while bringing festivity to the streets for all ages. Street programming features music, close-up magic by Marc Ferrer, Mag Esparragow, Mag Marc, and Maga Cristina—some repeats from last year—and animations merging food with entertainment.
Canòlich Ribot, head of the tourism department, highlighted yearly enhancements like more lots, dietary accommodations, and detailed tapa descriptions to boost engagement. IDPA commercial director Ondara Llabrés noted the company's second-year sponsorship, emphasizing its appeal through inclusive menus and the two top restaurateur awards.
