The Agrupació Sardanista Andorrana premiered its seventh original sardana on Saturday morning, dedicating the piece to longtime members Dani Pérez and Carme Pantebre during a special gathering at the consòrcia hall in Andorra la Vella's Congress Centre.
Around 50 people braved heavy snowfall outside to join the event, which doubled as the group's traditional end-of-year "ballada del soci." Normally held in December, it was postponed this year due to scheduling conflicts with the venue, as explained by president Teo Armengol. "We considered skipping it altogether but decided to hold it exceptionally," he said.
The highlight came with the seventh dance, a new composition titled *El Dani i la Carme*, performed to the accompaniment of the Bellpuig Cobla. Armengol described it as a tribute to the couple's decades of dedication, noting Pérez's continued involvement even after stepping down as president. "Tributes should be given in life, not posthumously," he emphasized, drawing prolonged applause from attendees.
Pérez and Pantebre received flowers and gifts from the group and officials, including Andorra la Vella's cònsol menor Olalla Losada, Culture Minister Mònica Bonell, and general councillor Cerni Escalé. All praised the pair's contributions publicly.
Composer Carles Santiago, who has over 35 years with the Cobla Ciutat de Cornellà, created the piece at Armengol's request. He aimed for a lively, "balladora" style suited to Pérez's tastes, drawing from their personal friendship forged during Pérez's presidency. "It's an homage recognizing both their efforts," Santiago said.
The morning featured nine sardanas in total, blending tradition with heartfelt recognition amid the winter weather.
