Andorra Launches Oral Exams for 28 Permanent Teaching Positions

A new competition to secure permanent teaching positions in Andorra's education system got underway today with the professional oral exam, spread over two days.

The process, announced last week, draws 45 candidates for 28 spots—14 for primary school teachers (mestres) and 14 for secondary school professors. It comprises up to six sub-competitions based on education level and subject, leading to varying levels of competition.

The French teacher position for primary school attracted the most interest, with 17 candidates for 10 places (three provisionally qualified pending additional paperwork). For the two primary visual arts (plàstica) spots, there were two applicants (one fully qualified, one provisional). The two primary physical education positions had six candidates (four qualified, two provisional).

Among the 14 secondary professor roles, competition was more even. The five science spots drew nine candidates (one provisional); the five mathematics positions had just three applicants, likely leaving vacancies after this round; and the four physical education roles had six candidates.

Eligibility for this initial call targets interí teachers—temporary staff—who have worked continuously at the same position for at least five years, prioritising long-serving educators for civil servant status.

Candidates must next pass a written professional exam, a psychotechnical test, and an interview.

Between last school year and this one, 26 positions were stabilised. This edict advances the government's goal of securing 75 structural interí roles this legislative term.
