Andorra Police Buys €70K Toyota Land Cruiser for Security Unit

Andorra's citizen security unit within the police force is set to expand its vehicle fleet with a new Toyota Land Cruiser from the latest generation, valued at around €70,000.

The off-road vehicle, recently on display at the Toyota dealership in Andorra, will be available to the unit and its group for support in maintaining public order (GSMO). Multiple sources have confirmed the purchase price, and the vehicle will initially remain in the police department's ownership, unlike the 18 patrol cars acquired on lease at the end of last year.

The addition comes shortly after the leasing deal for the patrol vehicles, positioning the Land Cruiser as a timely upgrade—likened by some to a "Three Kings gift" for the force.

While the need to modernise the fleet is not in dispute, the decision has sparked some discontent within the police department. Judicial police specialists, focused on investigations, have long requested fleet renewals that have yet to materialise. Instead, the €70,000 investment has gone towards this off-road vehicle.
