Police in Andorra continue their search for the dog that seriously injured an eight-year-old boy in Sispony on 26 December.

None of the animals identified so far matches the one responsible for the attack, authorities confirmed on Wednesday. The investigation remains open, with police working alongside animal control officers who have examined several dogs without finding a match.

Eyewitnesses—companions of the boy who were present—provide key details, having seen the animal up close. They are shown photos of suspects as they arise, but so far none align with their description: a German Shepherd-type dog weighing around 40 kilograms, with a beige coat.

The incident occurred at midday near Sispony cemetery, where the dog was roaming loose without an owner. SUM paramedics treated the boy's severe facial injuries on site and alerted police, who learned of the case from them. The child, whose family does not reside in Andorra, was later transferred to Hospital de la Seu d'Urgell for further care.

The family filed a complaint immediately after. Initial suspicion fell on a dog owned by an Andorran man who was abroad at the time and had left the animal with a trusted caretaker. That lead, like others, has been ruled out.

Efforts to locate both the dog and its owner have so far proved fruitless. If identified, the owner could face administrative fines and potentially criminal charges.
