A 22-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Friday in Incles after his car lost control, struck a 29-year-old female tourist who had stepped out of one of two vehicles involved in a prior minor collision, and then crashed into the stationary cars.
The incident occurred around 12:20am on the CG-2 road in Canillo parish. The initial low-impact accident between two Andorran-registered cars caused only material damage, prompting the drivers to pull over and exchange insurance details. As one passenger exited, the third vehicle hit her before slamming into the stopped cars, leading to her complaint of lower back pain. Firefighters provided on-site medical care and later transported her by ambulance to the hospital, where she was treated for non-serious injuries and expected to be discharged soon.
Police, traffic specialists, and Canillo commune traffic agents attended the scene to manage the situation and traffic. Breath and drug tests on the drivers showed the 22-year-old responsible for the third car had exceeded alcohol limits and tested positive for narcotics. He was detained on charges of a public safety offence for driving under the influence and an offence against personal integrity for the pedestrian's injuries. He will appear before judicial authorities in the coming hours.
No other serious injuries were reported.
Earlier that evening, around 10:15pm, a separate collision involving two cars—one Spanish-registered—occurred at the Dos Valires exit near La Massana. It initially appeared potentially serious but was confirmed as material damage only.
