**Andorran police arrest four men in separate drug and DUI cases**

Police in Andorra have detained four men in recent days across distinct incidents involving drug possession, suspected trafficking and driving under the influence of alcohol. The cases emerged from routine patrols, a border control and a hotel callout, with investigations ongoing.

The first arrest occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 29, outside a nightclub in Soldeu, Canillo parish. Officers noticed a 27-year-old male tourist behaving suspiciously, identified him and conducted a security pat-down. They found multiple concealed packets containing what appeared to be drugs. At the central police station, an inventory confirmed 20 ecstasy pills and 6.46 grams of methamphetamine. He faced charges of a major drug trafficking offence and a minor count of toxic drug consumption, and was brought before the courts on Tuesday, December 30.

On Thursday afternoon, at a border checkpoint on the French side, officers stopped a Spanish-registered car driven by a 40-year-old Spanish tourist. A search uncovered 0.5 grams of cocaine, 4.2 grams of marijuana and 2.1 grams of hashish, leading to his arrest on possession charges.

Early Friday morning, police intervened in a verbal dispute between a tourist couple at an Andorra la Vella hotel. They located a package holding 22.88 grams of marijuana, which contained an inner packet with three ecstasy pills. The 34-year-old male tourist admitted ownership, resulting in his transfer to the central station for detention.

In a separate case, early on Thursday, January 1, along the Obac road in Andorra la Vella, officers stopped an Andorran-registered vehicle driven by a 58-year-old local resident. A breath test registered 1.62 grams of alcohol per litre of blood, prompting charges for impaired driving that posed a risk to public safety.

Police maintain these operations as part of standard efforts to protect public safety, particularly amid high tourist volumes, with all cases proceeding through judicial channels.
