Andorra Promotes OSCE Autumn Session and Ukraine Support at Vienna Winter Meeting

Andorra's delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly used the 25th Winter Session in Vienna on 19-20 February to promote the Autumn Session that the Consell General will host from 7-9 October.
Led by Meritxell López of the Democrats, the delegation set up an informational stand in collaboration with Andorra Turisme. The stand drew visits from parliamentarians representing the organisation's 57 member states.
During the closing session on Friday, López spoke in a special debate titled "Human Rights as the Basis of Security," marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's war against Ukraine. She highlighted Andorra's participation in key international efforts, including the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, the Register of Damage for Ukraine, and the Council of Europe convention establishing an international claims commission. López stressed that Andorra "has adhered to all these initiatives and will continue to do so, as part of our commitment to justice, accountability, and protecting the most vulnerable."
She also warned about disinformation and the spread of fake news and images, noting its disproportionate harm to children, women, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups. López called for effective mechanisms to counter these threats through serious, structured dialogue.
In addition, López attended meetings of the Standing Committee, where activity reports were presented by OSCE-PA President Pere Joan Pons, Secretary General Roberto Montella, the treasurer, and special representatives, as well as the Rules of Procedure Review Committee.
The opening session on Thursday featured speeches by Walter Rosenkranz, president of Austria's National Council; Ruslan Stefanchuk, speaker of Ukraine's lower house; and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu.
