Olga Gelabert has been appointed Andorra’s ambassador to Sweden. Gelabert, a former minister of Culture and general councillor who has represented the Principality in Portugal for about a year, was named to the post after completing the required steps.
The government agreed the appointment in September, and after King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden granted agrément late last month, the designation was approved by the council of ministers last Wednesday. The appointment will take effect once it is published in the Official Gazette of Andorra (BOPA), expected next Wednesday.
Gelabert will serve as a non-resident ambassador to Sweden, as she does in Portugal. She had no prior diplomatic experience before taking on the Portuguese posting. The move is part of a redistribution of several non-resident Scandinavian embassies left vacant by Gil Rossell; some of those representations have been assigned to Ferran Costa.
