The sixth edition of the Andbank Open swimming competition took place on Saturday at the Piscina del Centre Esportiu dels Serradells in Andorra la Vella, drawing a record crowd of around 1,000 spectators and more than 450 swimmers from 11 clubs, including five Andorran teams.

Organised by the Federació Andorrana de Natació (FAN), the event featured prominent swimmers such as África Zamorano, Ainhoa Campabadal, Carla Carrón and Nil Cadevall. The programme covered nearly all disciplines across various age categories in the Olympic-sized pool. It marked the highest number of entries in the competition's history, with 1,682 inscriptions across 44 events from 16 clubs originally announced—five local and 11 foreign, mainly elite Catalan youth and senior squads.

The meet concluded with about 15 championship records set in different events. Marc Garcia of Serradells established a new Andorran record in the 13-year-old boys' 200m butterfly, clocking 2:36.56.

FAN president Joan Clotet said the edition met its participation and organisational goals, praising the turnout of athletes and fans. He noted potential for hosting higher-level events in future. Technical director Alfonso Maltrana highlighted the swimmers' efforts and the volunteers' contributions to the day's success.

The competition had been presented on Thursday by FAN and Andbank representatives, who anticipated top-level fields including three female Olympic swimmers, four Spanish champions and state-level regulars. Maltrana had described it as Andorra's premier swimming event and a vital benchmark for national athletes two months before the European Championships qualifying window. He noted the unexpectedly high participation and stressed its role in gauging form under pressure, without firm expectations for overall victories.

Andbank country banking director Maria Suárez commended the event's steady growth and FAN's ambition to make it a fixture for international competitors.
