Andorra participated this week in a meeting of the European ALIS project in Porto, Portugal, where officials highlighted the country's pilot programme using outdoor sports to promote social inclusion among vulnerable youth.
State Secretary for Youth and Sports Alain Cabanes, joined by psychopedagogue Tamara Delgado from the youth promotion and volunteering department, outlined Andorra's initiative to partners from France, Spain, Portugal and other countries. The pilot, which began in October 2025, featured an outing for 13 youths aged 14 to 17, introducing them to careers tied to the natural environment and traditional trades such as mountain and climbing guide, dry stone technician, and culinary roles.
Cabanes said his department is organising a second activity for this February.
The ALIS project—Aventura Local d’Innovació Social—seeks to enhance the personal development and employability of at-risk young people through nature-based sports, helping to shape their educational paths and support labour market integration. Led by Le CREPS de Montpellier, a French centre for sports expertise and performance, it involves public and private organisations across southwest Europe.
The programme falls under the EU's SUDOE initiative, which fosters transnational cooperation for regional growth and cohesion in the southwest.
