Andorran para-alpine skier Roger Puig failed to finish either of the two World Cup slaloms at Feldberg ski resort in Germany over the weekend.
In the opening event on Saturday, Puig missed a gate in the final stretch of the second run, just four gates from the finish line. He had posted the 11th-fastest time in the first run despite entering gates too wide and losing time amid discomfort, as noted by his team. Puig improved in the second run with stronger form before the error eliminated him from contention for points.
On Sunday, Puig was again knocked out during the first run of the second slalom. He had recorded the seventh-best intermediate time but could not complete the final sector.
No injuries were reported in either incident. Puig's team described positive sensations from his runs as encouraging signs ahead.
He remains ninth in the overall World Cup standings across all disciplines with 338 points and 13th in slalom with 29 points. The circuit now moves to Meribel, France, for a technical triple next week—one slalom and two giant slaloms—starting Tuesday.
