Xavier Cornella and Bartumeu "Bartu" Gabriel failed to complete the second run of the opening Far East Cup (FEC) slalom at Sugadaira Kogen in Japan, as they seek to improve their FIS points for the coming season.

The Andorran Ski Federation (FAE) alpine skiers, with current FIS points of 23 for Cornella and 22.94 for Gabriel, sit at 26.15 and 30.45 respectively on the provisional 2027 base list, which uses their three best results this season. They raced in the FEC event yesterday but did not finish. Today they competed in a second slalom, with giant slalom training scheduled tomorrow. Sunday is a rest day before races in Hakuba: giant slaloms on 2 and 3 March, followed by slaloms on 4 and 5 March.

In Austria, FAE skiers Àlvar Calvo, Max Black, and Pirmin Estruga took part in the first FIS slalom in Zams. Calvo finished 20th in 1:30.79, 2.66 seconds behind Austrian winner Jakob Greber, earning 45.03 FIS points near his existing 40.51 total. He placed 23rd in the first run and 11th in the second. Black ended 35th in 1:35.52, moving from 44th to 35th across runs. Estruga did not finish his first run. The trio returned today for another FIS slalom at the same venue.
