Andorra's Ordino Arcalís ski resort, part of the Grandvalira network, has suspended all operations due to excessive snow accumulation, constant precipitation, high avalanche danger, and intense winds linked to Storm Ingrid. Grandvalira Resorts cited uncontrollable atmospheric, meteorological, and snowpack conditions that prevent safe piste grooming and skiing.

The closure prioritises user safety over operations, with the company stressing that the decision stems from factors beyond its routine management. Heavy snow has blocked effective piste preparation, while persistent rain and elevated avalanche warnings eliminate any possibility of reopening soon. No timeline for resumption has been given, and the resort remains under close observation.

Affected skiers can claim vouchers for lift passes, ski, and snowboard rentals, redeemable on another day this season or, in certain instances, the following one. Vouchers do not cover accommodation or off-piste activities. Grandvalira suggested alternatives like Pal Arinsal or other Grandvalira sectors for visitors.

The shutdown, occurring during peak tourism season, underscores the balance between Andorra's snow-reliant economy and risk prevention, as guided by meteorological alerts. Ordino Arcalís, renowned for its high-altitude terrain in the northern parish, awaits improved conditions before resuming.
