Gerard Piqué, majority shareholder of FC Andorra, spoke on Sport’s Moeve Fútbol Zone about the club’s sporting situation, urging calm despite a run of 10 matches without a win. He acknowledged the moment is complex but said his years at the highest level mean little surprises him: “We have a very good team, but for certain reasons the dynamic isn’t the best.”
Piqué expressed confidence that the squad’s talent will emerge, stressing the team’s youth: “It’s a very young team and the results will come.” He reflected on how inexperience can affect performance late in matches: “Nerves arrive more at the end. Now the objective is to turn the negative trend as soon as possible so we can work with more calm. There are many matches left and the team has the level to not be so low.”
He also highlighted the club’s progress since it was rescued from Primera Catalana in 2018, noting that seven years on FC Andorra is in its third season in Segunda División. “It’s a success. Even after the brief relegation, last year the team returned to rise. It’s a project with a lot of potential,” he said.
Ambition remains intact, Piqué added, admitting promotion to La Liga would be difficult: “We want one day to reach Primera División, knowing how complicated it is.” He pointed out the challenge of competing against historic clubs with large fanbases and greater economic muscle, and cautioned that resources and fair play advantages do not guarantee success: “In football it’s been shown that money doesn’t always put you on top.”
