Andorra la Vella's municipal government has installed 15 new surveillance cameras in the Centre Ciutat car park, increasing the total to 45 across its nine levels. The additions cover parking zones, entry and exit points, the zero-level entrance at Prat de la Creu, access to Plaça del Poble, and payment kiosks.

The enhancements seek to bolster security, monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic, separate access flows, and enable live supervision of both rotating and subscriber spaces in this high-turnover central facility. Camera feeds transmit directly to control rooms for parking and traffic services, allowing quicker responses to incidents, fewer on-site agent patrols, and redirection of personnel to other tasks.

Councillor for Traffic and Parking Xavier Surana stated that the initiative reflects the parish's commitment to safer, better-managed public areas for daily users and occasional visitors alike. He noted it would accelerate incident resolution, sharpen operational control, discourage antisocial behaviour, and protect vehicles in a busy location.

This rollout forms part of broader safety improvements driven by the newly established Municipal Security Unit, which falls under the Traffic Service. The adjacent congress centre already features 11 cameras throughout its premises.
