Andorra-la Seu Airport recorded 19,160 passengers in 2025, nearly 20,000 in total, surpassing traffic at various larger Spanish airports, Secretary of State for Energy Transition, Transport and Mobility David Forné said Thursday.
Forné voiced the government's satisfaction with the facility's progress, noting its shift from near disuse a few years ago to a hub serving regular flights to Palma and Madrid. Those routes, introduced as pilots to demonstrate latent passenger demand to private operators, proved successful and will run through all of 2026 to solidify interest.
The executive is advancing talks with private firms to finance additional routes, aiming for a launch in 2027 that would deliver a lasting push and better embed the airport in Europe's network. Forné said announcements would follow once discussions advance further, emphasizing private involvement as key to long-term viability.
The Generalitat of Catalonia has pledged investments this year in hangars and other infrastructure to bolster medium-term operational capacity.
Forné highlighted the strategy's success in activating demand while committing to sustain current services next year alongside growth via public-private collaboration.
