Encamp parish council is set to launch a major renovation of Avinguda Joan Martí on 19 January, targeting the stretch from Prat de Genil roundabout to Prada de Moles. The project divides into four phases aimed at improving quality of life, traffic flow, road safety, and commercial activity, building on prior upgrades around Sant Miquel.

The first phase, lasting about 12 months, focuses on the section from Prat de Genil to Carrer de la Molina and breaks into five sub-phases to minimise disruptions. Preliminary work starts on 12 January with Carrer de la Molina closed to vehicles from the avenue to the Parc de l’Ossa car park entrance until 12 March. Pedestrians can continue through, while business access and loading remain available. Car park users must enter and exit via Poble d’Encamp roundabout only.

From 19 January, the avenue's downhill lane closes between Prat de Genil and Carrer de la Molina, making that segment uphill-only for the phase's duration. The area from Prada de Moles to Carrer de la Molina keeps two-way traffic. Access to residences, shops, and garages stays open, with parking and loading areas shifting as work progresses. Left turns from Carrer de la Vena toward Prada de Moles are allowed, barring vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.

Bus services face temporary changes, especially early in phase one. Between 19 January and 12 March, uphill stops operate normally, but downhill stops at Riu Blanc and Prada de Moles close. Molina's stop relocates to a temporary spot at Poble d’Encamp roundabout, with Ràdio Andorra serving lines L2, L3, and L4. Funibus follows national bus routes, and Uclic affects only Molina. After 12 March, with Carrer de la Molina reopening, L2 and L4 resume downhill service from there, restoring Riu Blanc and Prada de Moles stops alongside the temporary Poble d’Encamp site.

Council plans information meetings ahead of each phase for residents and businesses, beginning 12 January at 19:30 in Valireta for the initial section. Phase two spans Prada de Moles to Hotel Encamp (11 months); phase three covers Hotel Encamp to Carrer de la Vena (6 months); phase four runs from Carrer de la Vena to Carrer de la Molina (4 months).

Improvements feature expanded pedestrian areas, green spaces, new street furniture, renewed pavements and kerbs, raised crossings for safety, buried utilities, energy-efficient lighting, and smart infrastructure for better mobility and urban management. Waste collection, road cleaning, snow removal, temporary crossings, and signage will continue uninterrupted.

The council urges cooperation from residents and businesses, providing direct channels for updates.
