Andorra Hotels Hit 70.88% Occupancy in March, Best Since Pandemic

Andorra's hotel sector ended the 2025-2026 winter on a high note, with good snow conditions and an early Easter driving the best March results since the pandemic amid operational challenges.

Key Points

  • March occupancy rose to 70.88%, up 4.35 points from 66.53% in 2025, strongest since 78.85% in pandemic era.
  • Gains due to good snow, Easter Week shift starting March 30 boosting demand.
  • Winter season strong: Dec 62.85%, Jan 80.52%, Feb 85.27%; Easter 76.84%.
  • Top parishes: Andorra la Vella 80.77%, Encamp 79.86%, Pas de la Casa 80.27%.

Andorra's hotels recorded an average occupancy rate of 70.88% in March, up 4.35 percentage points from the 66.53% seen in the same month of 2025, according to figures released by the Unió Hotelera d’Andorra (UHA). The result marks the sector's strongest March performance since the pandemic, when occupancy reached 78.85%, and underscores a robust close to the 2025-2026 winter season.

The UHA attributed the gains to several factors, including good snow conditions throughout much of the month and the calendar shift for Easter Week, which began on March 30 and extended into early April. This timing pulled forward demand typically concentrated in April, boosting activity in an otherwise irregular period. UHA director Albert Mora described the outcome as "very positive for the hotel sector," highlighting recent snowfalls unusual for late winter that sustained ski operations despite variable weather.

The winter season showed steady strength overall. December 2025 started with 62.85% occupancy, a 2.77-point rise from the prior year, followed by January's 80.52% (up 3.21 points) and February's 85.27% (down 2.46 points). These figures held firm despite border disruptions on the French side affecting visitor arrivals.

Easter Week occupancy hit 76.84% nationwide, nearly 17 points above 2025's 59.85%, with particularly strong showings in higher parishes benefiting from optimal piste conditions. Andorra la Vella led at 80.77%, followed by La Massana at 79.08%, Ordino at 74.45%, Encamp at 79.86%, Pas de la Casa at 80.27%, and Canillo at 68.65%. Escaldes-Engordany dipped to 73.98% from 80.85% the previous year.

The UHA praised hotels' adaptability amid labour shortages and operational pressures, with staff reorganisations ensuring high service standards. Last-minute bookings, driven by online platforms, have also become a key market feature, prompting hotels to factor in late surges when assessing results. The sector now looks ahead confidently to wrapping up the ski season.
