Massana Workers' Union Affiliates with Andorran Trade Union Confederation

The Massana Municipal Workers' Union (Sitcolama) has officially affiliated with the Andorran Trade Union Confederation (USdA), becoming the second local council workers' union to join after the Andorra la Vella Municipal Workers' Union (Sitca).

This step strengthens the USdA's footprint in municipal administrations, including direct affiliations from traffic agents in Escaldes-Engordany. The confederation views the affiliation as key to its growth and to advancing a model centered on public workers' rights, collective bargaining, and social dialogue.

The USdA hailed Sitcolama's choice as highly positive, noting that it enables combined efforts, shared knowledge, and stronger advocacy for council employees when engaging with local authorities. It aims to promote institutional dialogue and solutions for issues facing Massana's workforce, stressing that dialogue offers the best path to settling labor conflicts.

As an initial action, the USdA will seek a meeting with Massana's consuls, Eva Sansa and Roger Fité, alongside Citizens Committed (Ciutadans Compromesos) leadership, including the party's general councillor and its government representative. The agenda includes addressing existing discrepancies between Sitcolama and the council, raising staff concerns, and pursuing dialogue-based approaches to build labor relations grounded in institutional respect, negotiation, and rights protection.

The confederation is optimistic that this phase will yield smoother ties between worker representatives and Massana officials, to the advantage of public services and those who deliver them. The move underscores the USdA's dedication to robust, cohesive, and accountable representation for public sector staff, rooted in dialogue, bargaining, and union rights.
