Andorra CPI Hits 4.8% in August, Driven by Transport and Fuel Surge

Andorra's annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August stood at a confirmed 4.8%, up six tenths from July's 4.2%, as the Department of Statistics finalised its preliminary figure.

The increase stemmed mainly from transport costs, which hit 9.5% annually—an advance of 3.1 points—driven by higher fuel and lubricant prices compared with August 2025. Clothing and footwear rose to 7.1%, up 2.2 points, as summer discounts eased relative to the prior year. Non-alcoholic beverages and food climbed to 2.5%, a five-tenths gain led by fresh fruit.

On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.5% overall. Transport jumped 2.4% due to fuel and lubricants, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased 0.3% from liquid fuels. Non-alcoholic beverages and food edged up 0.3%, with gains in fish, legumes and vegetables partly offset by fruits. Clothing and footwear fell 1% as sales ended.

Petroleum products recorded a 25.4% annual rise from July's 15.2%, alongside a 7.5% monthly surge.

Core inflation, stripping out energy and unprocessed food, eased to 3.7% from 3.8%. The overall index hit 123.55 points, with year-to-date inflation through August at 2.9%.

The rate outpaced neighbours' preliminary August data: Spain at 4.3%, up from 3.6% in July and awaiting confirmation, and France at 2.4%, up from its July figure and pending finalisation.
