Key Points

  • 85.27% occupancy in Feb 2026, down from 87.73% in 2025; second-best since 2018.
  • Blamed on poor weekend weather, not road closure; strong Pas de la Casa weekends.
  • Winter season strong: Dec 62.85%, Jan 80.52%; aided by pre-sales and ski conditions.
  • Events like Van Gogh exhibit, FIS Ski World Cup, Freeride Tour boosted traffic.

Andorra's hotels achieved an average occupancy rate of 85.27% in February 2026, marking the second-highest figure since 2018 outside pandemic years, according to the Unió Hotelera d'Andorra (UHA).

This represents a decline of 2.46 percentage points from the 87.73% recorded in February 2025. UHA director Albert Mora dismissed any link to the RN-20 road closure, pointing to robust weekend occupancy at Pas de la Casa hotels. He instead blamed unfavourable weather on certain weekends, which contrasted with the stronger conditions of the previous year. "These are the second-best figures since 2018," Mora noted.

The performance builds on a strong winter season, with December at 62.85% and January at 80.52%. Ski resorts' optimal conditions sustained demand, complemented by an effective pre-sale strategy that secured early bookings and mitigated weather risks.

Key February events drove further traffic, including the Van Gogh Alive exhibition, Audi FIS Ski World Cup for Andorra 2026, Freeride World Tour at Ordino Arcalís, Carnival celebrations, and the Cota 1300 event in Ordino. This mix of skiing, events, and hotel quality ensured consistently high activity.

The UHA hailed the results as confirmation of Andorra's enduring appeal as a winter destination, despite operational strains. The sector faces growing challenges in planning and staffing amid labour market shortages, demanding extraordinary efforts to uphold service standards.
