Key Points

  • 90% occupancy forecast Dec 29-Jan 4, exceeding Christmas figures.
  • Christmas week (Dec 22-28) averaged 82%, matching 2023.
  • Christmas weekend hit ~85%, +9pp from last year.
  • Staffing shortages persist but service quality maintained.

Andorra's hotels are nearing full capacity this week, with the Unió Hotelera d'Andorra (UHA) forecasting around 90% occupancy from December 29 to January 4.

UHA director Albert Mora shared the upbeat projection yesterday, noting it exceeds last week's Christmas figures and signals stronger demand than initially anticipated. He described the outlook as "very good," with the sector approaching the New Year and Epiphany holidays with high expectations.

Mora also reviewed Christmas week performance, from December 22 to 28, which averaged 82% occupancy across hotel establishments—nearly matching the same period in 2023. Demand fluctuated by day: early in the week saw lighter bookings, but the Christmas weekend surged, hitting close to 85% occupancy, up nine percentage points from last year. This strong finish offset the slower start, Mora explained.

Hotels maintained service quality despite ongoing staffing shortages. "Many hotels have not been able to complete their teams," Mora said, a challenge persisting across the sector. Even so, existing staff were equipped to handle peak visitor numbers without compromising standards.
