The 11th summer Job Meeting, held Tuesday morning at the Congress Centre in Andorra la Vella, drew more than 100 jobseekers as 24 companies offered 520 positions—20 more than the 507 available last year. Among the vacancies, 54 targeted young people of working age with initial experience, a growing number that State Secretary for Economy, Employment and Housing Laura Camps described as reinforcing the event's role in providing first market entry, particularly for youth.
Camps attributed the increase to Andorra's economic vitality, especially in tourism-related fields like hospitality, restaurants and retail. Other areas included sports and leisure, business consulting, legal services and accounting. The Employment Service not only facilitated direct company-candidate interactions but also provided profile-matching guidance and support.
No prior registration was needed; attendees could check listings on the service's website, bring CVs and conduct on-site interviews. The fair, the third summer edition of the season, ran until 1pm. Past events have resulted in about 10% of participants securing contracts, and Camps expressed hopes of improving that rate through better facilitation.
Jobseekers ranged from recent secondary graduates like Raiden, seeking summer experience before medical studies, to vocational trainees like Marta targeting administrative roles, and professionals like Heidy pursuing permanent positions after a prior unsuccessful visit. She suggested attracting more companies to expand options.
Company representatives echoed the event's value. Julia and Sabrina from Grup CISA noted it enabled smoother candidate exchanges and market insights, with openings in restaurants, sales and graphic design. Fabiana and Caterina from Grup CCA sought summer staff but spotted potential for fixed hires, while Mònica from Hotel Coma highlighted general staffing shortages for roles like kitchen aides, receptionists and waitstaff.
Responding to media queries, Camps said companies had raised no significant issues so far with the new quota system, unlike winter-season challenges.
