Andorra's goods imports reached €177.7 million in March, up 12% from the previous year, according to statistics department figures, while exports fell 11.9% to €16.6 million.
The import growth reflected strong domestic demand in key sectors, with 'Diversos' rising 81.5%, 'Construcció' up 55.4%, and 'Transport' increasing 24.3%. Declines hit 'Energia' at 41.9% and 'Electrònica' down 6.6%. Excluding energy, the monthly rise accelerated to 18.1%. For the first quarter, imports totaled €478.3 million, a modest 0.8% gain, led by 'Joieria' (+81.6%), 'Diversos' (+28.6%), and 'Construcció' (+23.1%), offset by drops in 'Energia' (-26.7%), 'Electrònica' (-10.6%), and 'Begudes i tabac' (-10.1%).
Over the past 12 months, imports stood at €2,001 million, 7.3% higher than the prior period's €1,864.3 million. Without energy, growth reached 9%, driven by 'Diversos' (+22.4%), 'Joieria' (+32.7%), 'Transport' (+5.3%), 'Construcció' (+16.8%), and 'Industrial' (+8.0%), against an energy fall of 13.1%.
Exports saw 'Joieria' surge 116.7% in March despite overall weakness, with 'Electrònica' (-17.1%) and 'Diversos' (-52.7%) dragging totals lower. Quarterly exports held nearly flat at €47.3 million (-0.8%), boosted by 'Joieria' (+203.1%) but weighed by 'Diversos' (-50.6%) and 'Transport' (-23.9%). The 12-month total reached €196.8 million, up 0.8%, thanks to 'Joieria' (+20.3%) and 'Electrònica' (+5.8%), countering declines in 'Diversos' (-15.9%), 'Transport' (-5.2%), and 'Vestit i calçat' (-14.9%).
Seasonally adjusted data showed imports rising 0.3% over three months through March, while exports dipped 1.6% in the latest month.
