Daniel Aristot was announced as the new president of the Empresa Familiar Andorrana (EFA) at the organisation’s 23rd forum in Soldeu and said he would begin his duties immediately, succeeding Daniel Armengol.
Aristot, who had served as vice‑president, said there had been an interval in which Armengol remained in post “to ensure a calm and sensible handover.” He confirmed the incoming board will be largely continuity‑oriented, with only one or two members expected to be replaced because they will be less present in the Principality for professional reasons. Armengol will continue to sit on the board.
Aristot said the EFA works from a long‑standing roadmap that is regularly updated to reflect current challenges. The new board will review the items already on the table and may make adjustments, but no specific changes have been defined yet.
Armengol announced his departure during his customary speech before the forum lunch, saying he was closing a chapter after almost four years leading the association and that the board’s mandate had reached its term as anticipated at the assembly in May. He wished the new president and board success and described leading the EFA as a “privileged” and altruistic experience.
In his farewell remarks, Armengol thanked members for their support, expressed gratitude and pride in the organisation’s work, and apologised “if my tone was ever inappropriate or if my message was at times misdirected.” He also thanked the head of government, Xavier Espot, who attended the forum, for listening to the EFA’s requests.
During the forum, Armengol reviewed issues the association has focused on over the year, including public debt control, rising expenditure, the cost of living, the need to review the pension system, and strengthening family businesses amid negotiations on an Association Agreement with the EU. He urged preparation for the new international context, stressing financial prudence, improvements in productivity and diversification, and support for youth training, digitalisation and competitiveness, particularly for small and medium‑sized family firms.
