The eighth Used Vehicle Fair opened on Saturday at Borda Huguet in Sant Julià de Lòria, featuring nearly 200 cars from around a dozen to 20 exhibitors, depending on reports, as the second-hand market gains ground amid household budget constraints.

Parish councillor for tourism Judith López opened the event, calling it a fixture in the local calendar that draws residents eager to upgrade their cars. Organisers hope to match last year's roughly 80 sales completed during the fair and following weeks, with transactions as the main success metric rather than visitor counts. López attributed the sector's strength to broader economic pressures, noting that family finances are increasingly strained, pushing demand toward used options over new ones. The fair's format lets buyers inspect vehicles closely and weigh choices side by side, she added, while the nearby new Senzill park could draw extra crowds.

Exhibitors echoed the positive outlook, citing Andorra's large vehicle fleet and frequent renewals. Jordi Viles of NiceCars highlighted the market's breadth beyond outside stereotypes of luxury buys, with his stand offering models from €3,000 budget cars to €150,000 premium ones, including utilities, SUVs and off-roaders. SUVs lead preferences, making up almost 40 of his 60-plus vehicles for their versatility on daily drives and local terrain.

Eduard Tejero from JG Cars Solutions reported steady demand despite inflation and fuel costs, with prices remaining fairly stable. Younger buyers now prioritise tech like smartphone connectivity and app features over just low consumption or mileage, gaining advanced equipment at used-car value.

Marc Mas of Marc Mas Motors, focused on premium marques such as BMW, anticipated strong turnout with favourable weather. High-end models sell consistently, he said, while cheaper ones face more fluctuations—though Andorra offers relative shelter from wider volatility.

The event continues through Sunday evening with free admission, live music, dining and family entertainment to broaden its appeal.
