Quim Barceló Carreras has taken over as president of the Skål Club d’Andorra following a members’ assembly this week, where his candidacy received approval—described as unanimous by Bon Dia and El Periòdic, but by majority in Diari d’Andorra reports.

The communications specialist, linked to the club for over 15 years and most recently its vice president, succeeds Emili Yepes, who led the organisation for the past two years. Under Yepes, the club advanced professionalisation efforts to align with shifts in Andorra’s tourism sector, including new entrants, businesses and models reshaping the landscape.

Barceló’s renewed board aims to sustain this modernisation drive. “Our association has set a strong course in recent times, enriching our members’ experience. Proof of this is the rise in new members who have found in the Skål Club d’Andorra a hub that opens fresh professional opportunities and connections,” he said.

The group has broadened its membership beyond traditional roles to encompass tour operators, hoteliers, specialised tourism consultants and communications experts. This mix strengthens its function as a key networking forum for industry professionals.

Recent innovations include refreshed events, notably last year’s World Tourism Day on 27 September. It comprised a professionals’ gathering at Unesquare and a public programme at Plaça Coprínceps in Escaldes-Engordany to raise sector awareness. Traditional offerings persist, such as colloquium lunches, lectures, presentations and professional meetups that foster idea-sharing and partnerships.

Now approaching its 45th year, the Skål Club d’Andorra forms part of Skål International, a global network connecting thousands of tourism professionals worldwide. The new leadership plans to bolster its position within Andorra’s increasingly diverse and interconnected tourism field.
