Key Points

  • Systam manages buildings, GMAO, DCIM, and fleets via IoT and industrial protocols for real-time oversight.
  • Fully customizable with in-house microservices development, supporting cloud or on-premises.
  • Key projects: CESGA supercomputing centre and Andorra's DPEIS for emergency call location.
  • Prioritizes cybersecurity through protocols, training, and role-based access amid rising digitalization.

Manish Sahijwani, CTO of Solucions, oversees the development of Systam, the company's proprietary software for comprehensive infrastructure management. In a recent interview, he outlined how the platform, refined over more than 15 years, centralises control of a business's assets across multiple sectors.

Systam covers areas such as building management, computerised maintenance (GMAO), data centre infrastructure management (DCIM), and fleet operations. It integrates industrial protocols and IoT sensors to monitor devices in real time. "Digitalisation saves time, energy, and money, and everyone understands that," Sahijwani said, adding that Solucions has made it core to its operations.

The system is fully customisable. Unlike off-the-shelf solutions, Solucions adapts Systam to each client's needs, drawing on experience from dozens of deployments. The process starts with a preliminary study, followed by tailored configuration. Clients opting for the company's cloud receive a turnkey service, complete with defined user roles—such as global access for supervisors, area-specific views for technicians, or full permissions for administrators.

All development occurs in-house, from backend to mobile apps, using a microservices architecture. This allows independent evolution of modules and supports both cloud and on-premises setups based on client preference.

Notable projects include the Galicia Supercomputing Centre (CESGA) in Spain and, in Andorra, the Department of Fire Prevention and Extinction and Rescue Services (DPEIS). For DPEIS, Systam sensors monitor all fire stations and handle national emergencies via 112 and 118 calls. A key feature locates callers using mobile data, providing exact positions even before calls are answered.

While Solucions maintains legacy services like ERP integrations and cybersecurity, Systam remains the focus. Sahijwani noted growing digitalisation awareness among Andorran firms, with larger companies fully engaged and smaller ones following. On cybersecurity, he stressed technical protocols alongside staff training and strict access controls, which slow processes but enhance security in an internet-dependent environment.
