Bishop of Urgell Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat, Andorra's Episcopal co-prince, issued his first Easter message to the faithful, filmed in the cloister of the Episcopal Palace in La Seu d'Urgell. The video, shared on the Diocese of Urgell's YouTube channel, describes Easter as Christianity's greatest mystery and a core celebration of renewal, liberation, and fresh beginnings.
Serrano framed the feast through several lenses: the "Easter of Creation," marking the shift from darkness to light; the "Easter of the people of Israel," representing freedom from bondage; and above all, the "Easter of Christ," encompassing his suffering, death, and resurrection as the source of new life for believers. "We pass from death to life," he said, depicting Christian existence as a journey toward spiritual fulfillment and eternity.
He urged the community to embrace the Easter season fully, becoming "men and women of Easter" who share life, hope, and resurrection with others in family, workplace, and school settings. The Church of Urgell, he added, must expand by offering renewed vitality through the risen Christ.
Serrano thanked priests, catechists, and committed parishioners for sustaining local communities, while asking for prayers and backing for the clergy. He ended with wishes for a "good and holy Easter of the Lord" and an invitation to the diocesan gathering on 1 May at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Núria. The family event will include presenting children preparing for first Communion in May and June.
