Sant Julià de Lòria Sets Fire-Damaged Centre Cultural Lauredià Opening for 25 June

Sant Julià de Lòria has confirmed the official opening of the fire-damaged Centre Cultural Lauredià for 25 June, with auditoriums ready for technical tests by late May.

Cònsol menor Sofia Cortesao provided the details, noting crews are finalizing facade lighting trials as work nears completion. Earlier reports had suggested a late-May inauguration, but the schedule now points to the institutional ceremony on 25 June to activate the upgraded auditoriums and innovative exterior, enabling indoor and outdoor events.

The launch will unfold in two phases. Officials will attend the first for the formal activation, followed by open-house days over the inauguration weekend. Residents can tour the facilities while enjoying theatre, dance, music, and activities suited to all ages, with some performing companies already lined up—though full approval awaits early May ratification.

Cortesao described the venue's broader purpose, saying it will host conferences, workshops, and professional cultural events with more seating than the Casa Comuna. "We aim to make it accessible to everyone, from young children to adults," she added, positioning it as a community and cultural focal point.

The centre, vital to the parish, was badly hit by a November 2022 fire. Three years of repairs, funded by over €9 million from the comú alongside insurer and government contributions, have transformed it into a modern hub.
