Andorra took centre stage on Friday at the second day of the Tast gastronomic festival on Barcelona's La Rambla, showcasing its high-mountain cuisine and local products.

The event formed part of Andorra Turisme's gastronomic plan, aimed at establishing the Principality as an international culinary destination through the "Gastronomia d’Alta Muntanya" brand. Activities highlighted the country's culinary identity, rooted in local ingredients, traditions and high-altitude landscapes.

Two Andorran chef ambassadors led the demonstrations. Rodrigo Martínez of restaurant Beç presented a show cooking session titled “L’essència del producte en la cuina d’alçada”, focusing on nearby products and elevated terrain cooking. Jordi Grau, Michelin-starred chef at Ibaya, followed with “Creativitat i territori en la Gastronomia d’Alta Muntanya”, sharing his authorial approach inspired by the mountains.

The programme also featured a tasting of Andorran wines from Casus Belli, Borda Sabaté and Casa Auvinyà, led by sommelier Frederic Oliva of Barcelona's Enigma restaurant. Participants explored recent developments in the Principality's wine sector.

Local agro-food products shone through a cheese tasting from Casa Raubert and El Batall, guided by expert Enric Canut, which underscored their quality tied to Andorra's altitude and natural environment.

Andorra bolstered its presence with a promotional video for Andorra Taste shown at the show cooking area, plus an exhibition stand featuring local items including cured meats from Cal Jordi.

The initiative aligns with Andorra Turisme's strategy, centred on territory, products and people, to position gastronomy as a key differentiator for international promotion.
