Nearly 1,000 visitors attended the second edition of La Fira del Vermut in La Cortinada over the weekend, with Comú d'Ordino officials describing it as a resounding success that has solidified the event as a key gastronomic and cultural highlight in the parish.
Organised jointly with Menja't Andorra, the fair attracted crowds on both Saturday and Sunday. On the opening day, all 200 tickets for the popular arrossada sold out before activities began, though food trucks and local restaurants provided extensive alternatives, including special menus. Despite forecasts for cooler weather than last year, conditions held up through the morning, drawing people to the 10 stalls from producers and restaurateurs, as well as three food trucks.
Councillor Mònica Armengol for Education, Culture, Youth and Social Welfare praised the strong turnout from the start. A standout addition was the new picnic area, which she highlighted as one of the most popular features. It gave attendees a comfortable space to sip vermut, sample potatoes, olives and guest producers' offerings, and spend more time in the village. "Lots of people are coming, and we hope it continues," she said early on Saturday.
The lineup included vermut, ratafia and herbal liqueur tastings, workshops on artisanal drink production and vermut basics, and cultural visits to sites such as Cal Pal with its mola and sawmill, the Llorts mine, and Riberamunt trails. Live music performances, DJ sets and flair bartending displays kept the atmosphere vibrant.
Armengol stressed the broad economic benefits across Ordino parish. La Cortinada's eateries saw gains from diners staying local, while other villages profited from visitor traffic and themed menus offered by participating restaurants. "Local spots benefit because so many people come and eat here, and the rest of the parish gains from various special menus—everyone comes out ahead," she noted.
Comú d'Ordino officials issued a highly positive assessment, confirming the near-1,000 attendance and the event's growing status as a parish staple.
