Eduard Vergara Arauz Named 2026 Fallaire Major of Valls d'Andorra After Golden Key Hunt Victory

Eduard Vergara Arauz from the Massana fallaires collective has been selected as the fallaire major of the Valls d'Andorra for 2026. His team found the golden key attached to the Fontargent ring during the traditional hunt held Sunday morning in Vall d'Incles, drawing around 100 participants from collectives across the country.

Vergara Arauz will replace Ferran Mata, the current 2025 fallaire major. Mata is scheduled to hand over the red cape at a ceremony in Plaça del Consell General on 23 June, after the Flama del Canigó is brought back.

Parishes have announced several fallaires menors, who represent their localities separately from the national figure. Andorra la Vella named Noa Pagès Mallol after she retrieved the silver key from the ring in an event organised by the capital's fallaires de llum that morning. Escaldes-Engordany chose Aroa Moreno Ferris on 16 May at Font de la Closa, where her group claimed the identifying ring. Ordino selected Isaac Guerra Andrés on 17 May via the recerca del mai petit during the asclada del mai, as his team located the pendant from the smallest mai.

Sant Julià de Lòria plans to pick its fallaire menor on 14 June through the recerca de l’argolla de la Rabassa, while Canillo's event is set for 20 June. All fallaires menors will receive their capes and pendants alongside the fallaire major at the 23 June ceremony.

The role of fallaire menor has developed recently due to expanding participation, especially among fallaires de llum in each parish, prompting unique local traditions. Following the hunts, participants gathered for a fraternity lunch at the AINA colony house facilities.
