Ordino's Nit de la Candela Returns June 18 with 11,000 Candles and Live Performances

Ordino's seventh Nit de la Candela will illuminate its historic centre on June 18 with over 11,000 candles and new hanging structures on buildings to highlight the parish's stone facades and cultural heritage sites.

Running from 9:30pm to 1am, the event transforms streets, squares and gardens into an open-air cultural stage. Performances include Wax & Boogie Trio at Plaça Major, Richy Vuelcom and David Amat at Placeta del Pajó, Vibrand Music in the courtyard of Era Rossell, Odara Trio in the gardens of Casa d'Areny Plandolit, Manos de Fuego in the garden of Casa Pairal, and Neus Mar with a dancer in the gardens of Casa Rossell. Additional features comprise an expanded selection of food trucks, fluorescent face painting for children, and free guided tours of Casa Museu d'Areny Plandolit. Several venues are designated cultural assets in the national patrimony, with authorisation from the Culture Ministry.

Cònsol Major Maria del Mar Coma described the night as a distinctive summer opener that many people anticipate and mark in their calendars. She emphasised its role in showcasing Ordino's architectural and artistic heritage, attracting visitors while remaining non-invasive and aligned with the parish's sustainable tourism model—recognised internationally as a Best Tourism Village. The production relies on local resources and volunteers, leaving no trace, and aims to boost economic activity through tourism sector collaboration. To accommodate crowds, 100 extra parking spaces will open on Avinguda de les Moles.

Councillor for Education, Culture, Youth and Social Welfare Mònica Armengol noted that the event extends beyond visual magic, offering a vital platform for cultural programming amid high expectations since its 2019 debut.

Sponsors Andbank and Nord Andorrà have supported it from the outset. Andbank Country Banking Director Maria Suárez called it a magnificent initiative and one of the country's premier events, praising its promotion of sustainable tourism, culture and new talent. Nord Andorrà Director Laura Bonet hailed it as one of the nation's most special cultural occasions, enabling a fresh view of Ordino and fostering shared moments among visitors, residents, artists and families.
