Andorran Silence Productions Co-Produces Sequel to Hit Spanish Film Casa en Cendres

Andorran production company Silence Productions is entering the feature film arena through its co-production role in Casa en cendres, the sequel to the successful Casa en flames directed by Spain's Dani de la Orden.

Founded by 26-year-old Marc Vadillo, who relocated to Andorra three years ago after studying film production at Catalonia's ESCAC and working in distribution at DeAPlaneta in Barcelona, the company partners with Spain's Sábado Películas and Italy's Elio Films. The opportunity arose after Sábado invited Vadillo to join the sequel following the prequel's strong reception in 2024. Silence received €125,000 from the Andorran government's cinematography aid programme to support its executive production responsibilities, which include financing strategy and creative contributions.

The project shifts the story's family-focused narrative from a beach setting to snowy landscapes, with part of the filming planned in Andorra, though locations are not fully confirmed. Pre-production is underway, with shooting expected to start this Christmas and continue into early 2027, targeting a 2028 winter release.

Vadillo called Casa en cendres the company's "calling card to Andorra and the world," serving as a professional test for Silence and its partners. He emphasized that all projects must deliver benefits to Andorra—through local shoots, hiring talent or using national services—as a condition of the grant. Partners were informed of these requirements upfront.

After nearly a year studying Andorra's audiovisual sector and small-market dynamics, Vadillo launched Silence to produce territory-linked stories in Catalan that highlight local talent. The firm is also developing short films for next year and a short with a UK producer to expand internationally.

Vadillo sees each production as a step to validate the industry, generate jobs, stimulate logistics and enable young Andorrans to build careers at home after overseas training. Government backing represents a measured effort to assess the sector's economic potential.
