Unicef Andorra Gala Dinner Raises Funds for Children in Central African Republic

Unicef Andorra's Solidary Gala Dinner, hosted by presenter Alba Carrillo, is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, at 8pm at Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa. Tickets are priced at 250 euros each, with limited availability through the Unicef Andorra website.

Funds raised will back a four-year Unicef initiative to protect and reintegrate children impacted by armed conflicts in the Central African Republic. Despite progress in peace processes, around 2,000 boys and girls associated with armed groups or forces require assistance to separate from these groups and rejoin their families and communities.

The programme provides protection measures, psychosocial care, family reunification, access to education, and vocational training. These efforts aim to help the children reclaim their childhoods, rebuild their lives, and grow up in safe environments free from violence.

Dàmaris Castellanos, director of Unicef Andorra, emphasised that separating a child from an armed group marks only the initial step. She noted a lengthy recovery process follows, where protection, education, and support prove essential for future opportunities. Castellanos added that the gala seeks to channel Andorran society's solidarity into tangible aid for these children.

The menu comes from chefs Jordi Grau and Hideki Matsuhisa, who together hold two Michelin stars. The event includes live music, a charity auction with exclusive experiences, interactive activities, and elements to highlight the plight of children in conflict areas.

Charlotte Bolland of the Unicef International Council—a global philanthropists' group backing child programmes—will attend alongside members of Andorran society. The public is invited to contribute to the Central African Republic project.
