Andorra Launches Giant Board Game Simulating Adult Life Challenges for Youth

The Escaldes-Engordany commune and Carnet Jove Andorra are launching "Andorra en Joc" on September 11, a life-sized board game that simulates the economic and decision-making challenges of starting adult life in Andorra.

Scheduled from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the new green space in Prat del Roure, the free activity invites young people aged 16 to 30 to tackle real-world issues cooperatively. Participants advance on a giant board by managing resources, facing hurdles in housing, jobs, leisure, health, and sports, plus routine costs like rent, groceries, and parking. Unexpected events arise, along with options such as bank loans.

Teams adopt varied social, economic, and family profiles, showing how starting conditions influence choices, opportunities, and daily realities. This mechanic fosters critical thinking and debate among players.

Each 50- to 60-minute round ends with a 10- to 15-minute guided reflection on youth inequalities, obstacles, and possibilities in the country. Up to three sessions will run, accommodating 16 people per turn in four teams of four. Registration opens via the Carnet Jove Andorra platform, with walk-ins welcome for any open spots on the day. All attendees receive a free one-year Carnet Jove card.
