Andorra Hosts First Meeting of Reference Women, Unveiling Expert Database

Around 40 women from diverse professional sectors gathered for the first Meeting of Reference Women in Andorra on 29 September. Hosted by the Andorran Women's Institute, the event highlighted the Reference Women Database, which now features 84 profiles of female experts and is publicly available on the institute's website.

The database, launched in 2023, stems from Law 6/2022 on the effective application of equal treatment, opportunities, and non-discrimination between women and men. The law mandates a registry of women with expertise in scientifically, economically, socially, and culturally significant fields to increase their presence in debates, analyses, reports, and discussions.

Organisers presented updates on the database's development, operations, and the networking opportunities it has generated. The initiative seeks to evolve beyond a simple directory, promoting synergies, collaborations, and professional connections among participants. It remains open to new registrations to enhance representation across Andorran society.

The meeting also recognised Marisol Fuentes, a journalist at Cadena SER Andorra, for her programme Amb Veu de Dona. The show spotlights women's experiences, careers, and roles in Andorran life. The institute has partnered with Cadena SER to amplify interviews from the series.
