The University of Andorra (UdA) has reinforced its partnership with the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) by focusing on cross-border research collaboration and paving the way for trilateral projects with the University of Girona.
UdA Rector Juli Minoves and Vice-Rector Josep Fortó made an institutional visit to the UPVD last Friday, September 18, where they were received by UPVD President Yvan Auguet and Vice-President for International and Cross-Border Relations Laurent Cavaignac. The talks highlighted plans to set work guidelines for pinpointing and advancing joint research initiatives, particularly those eligible for European funding.
The two universities expressed interest in broadening the effort to include the University of Girona, drawing on their shared regional location and complementary research expertise to drive collective projects. The parties also confirmed that Auguet will undertake an official visit to Andorra in the near future.
The Andorran representatives toured prominent UPVD sites during the visit, such as the Faculty of Law and Economic Sciences at the Mailly campus, alongside the business incubator and Bioenvironnement platform at the Moulin-à-Vent campus.
The day before, on September 17, Minoves and Fortó joined the solemn opening of the academic year at the University of Toulouse Capitoli. Guest of honour Yaël Braun-Pivet, French National Assembly President and a former student there, gave the keynote speech. Minoves contributed to the presentation of the Academic Palms awards and met with Braun-Pivet as well as Carole Drucker-Godard, Rector of the Montpellier Academy.
