Correos has issued a new stamp in its "Paisatges" series honouring the Refugi de Juclà, one of Andorra's most emblematic high-mountain shelters and a symbol of the principality's longstanding hiking tradition.
Located above 2,300 metres near Estany de Juclà—Andorra's largest lake—the refuge sits amid the stunning Pyrenean landscape. It ranks among the country's four staffed facilities and marks a key stop on routes through the iconic Vall d'Incles. The valley boasts rich natural features, including the Rius Incles and Juclà rivers, dramatic waterfalls, and prominent peaks such as Rulhe, Juclà, Alba, and Escobes. Granite formations and sheer ridges make the area a prime destination for mountaineers and hikers. During peak visitor seasons, an electric minibus assists access to parts of the trail.
The stamp underscores the vital role of mountain refuges in offering hospitality, rest, and camaraderie among trekkers, while emphasising respect for the natural surroundings and Andorra's outdoor culture. Its design captures the refuge's intimate connection to the high peaks and human harmony with the environment.
Printed in a run of 44,000 copies at a face value of €3.60 each, the stamps come in booklets of 16. They are on sale at the Andorra la Vella post office, via Correos Market, by emailing the Philatelic Service at atcliente.filatelia@correos.com, or by calling 915 197 197.
