Sant Ermengol school in Andorra la Vella marked its 60th anniversary with an evening event attended by about 220 people, including members of the educational community, former pupils, families, governing board representatives, and officials from government and linked institutions.

The gathering on Wednesday commemorated the school's founding on 3 October 1966, when it first admitted 70 students. Today it serves 921 pupils, drawing on Christian principles and the Spanish curriculum under an accord between the Urgell diocese and the General Council, located near Sant Pere rock.

Among those attending were Bishop of Urgell and board president Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat, Síndic General Carles Ensenyat, Head of Government Xavier Espot, leading consul of Andorra la Vella Sergi González, and the Secretary of State for Education.

Speeches from officials underscored the institution's role and the ongoing Church-state partnership in education. Bishop Serrano Pentinat described Sant Ermengol as integral to Andorra's history, crediting the General Council and diocese for viewing education as a joint responsibility from the outset—a collaboration that persists after six decades. He expressed gratitude to all involved, stressing that a school's success depends on everyday effort, confidence, and resolve.

A highlight was the opening and blessing of the revamped 1,600-square-metre play terrace. Improvements feature added shaded areas, expanded greenery, and spaces to encourage conversation, recreation, and pupil engagement, yielding a more inviting and suitable setting for the school community.

The night ended with the LUMEN light-and-sound performance, developed by the school's communications staff and TodoZancos. It launched permanent evening illumination of the landmark founding tower, which will display varied colours for key events—starting with green for World Mental Health Day.

A Mass was held on 3 October at Sant Esteve church to observe the precise date of the school's establishment.
