Andorra opens Fulbright applications for 2027–28 after five‑year renewal

The Andorran Government, through the Ministry of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, has opened the application period for Fulbright scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. Candidates may submit applications from 27 November until 14:30 on 8 May 2026.

The scholarships are aimed at Andorran holders of a higher education degree who wish to pursue postgraduate study — either a master’s or a doctoral programme — at universities in the United States. To be eligible applicants must hold Andorran nationality, possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognised by Andorran authorities, meet the requirements for a US J‑1 exchange visitor visa and demonstrate strong written and spoken English. Proof of language proficiency must be submitted as a certified copy of TOEFL results.

Each award funds one academic year — typically between ten and twelve months depending on the US institution’s calendar — and can be renewed for a second year if the student can show satisfactory academic progress. The programme is financed with public funds and co‑funded by the governments of Andorra and the United States.

The call follows a ministerial decision last week to renew Andorra’s Fulbright exchange agreement for an additional five years. Since the programme began in the 2002–2003 academic year, 21 Andorran students have been awarded Fulbright scholarships to study in North America.
