Andorra Expands Winter Cultural Programme with Films, Talks and Exhibitions

Andorra's cultural calendar expands further with new workshops, talks, and pairings added to the winter programme of films, lectures, and exhibitions across parishes.

Tonight's highlights include the mountain cinema screening of "Transpir, una aventura de natura i amistat" at 9pm in Teatre de les Fontetes, La Massana, following three friends' bicycle journey across the Pyrenees amid nature, friendship, effort, and humour. Ongoing mountain films also screen at 9pm in ACCO-Andorra Congrés Centre in Ordino and La Massana: "Border to Border," a 415km ski traverse through Finnish Lapland from Russia to Sweden; and "Nordic Skiing at Latitude 70," centred on a week at Saariselkä resort.

Tomorrow's events kick off at 6:30pm with the inauguration of "Pell," Miquel Mercè's black-and-white photography series on Andorran architecture's surface—material, light, shadow, joints, voids, and historical traces—at his studio in Escaldes-Engordany.

Lectures begin at 7pm in Escaldes-Engordany's comú act hall, where egyptologist Luis Manuel Gonzálvez, curator at Barcelona's Egyptian Museum, presents "Deir-el-Medina, a Very Special Community," detailing homes, sanctuaries, a hillside village, and tombs that captured ancient Egypt's daily life. At the same time, Helena of Mentconscient covers "From Mental Chaos to Total Control" at Hotel Roc Blanc, explaining how understanding the mind helps manage thoughts. Francisco Castaño, education expert on children and adolescents, speaks on "Educar amb disciplina positiva: educar amb límits sense crits" at Andbank's conference hall, addressing clear boundaries, children's emotions, and empathetic guidance. At 7pm in Andorra la Vella's government exhibition hall, Daniel Fité discusses "El fons de casa Cintet: una finestra al comerç andorrà d'ara fa un segle," drawing from the National Archive's holdings on a century-old Andorran business.

Additional 7pm sessions tomorrow feature a book launch for "Flors d’Amor," a Catalan poetry collection structured by seasons, at FNAC in Andorra la Vella; and a "Maridatge a tres" pairing of art, sensory experiences, and local products at Hive Five Coworking, with illustrator Diego D’Amico (Mundo Mani) creating live drawings projected for the audience.

At 8pm, art historian Aurora Baena Garròs explores "La primera pedra" at Taller Tèxtil i de Vidre in Escaldes-Engordany, tracing art's visual interpretations of sin, guilt, and redemption.

New workshops include a 6:30pm "Taller fàcil pràctic" on natural skincare at Hotel Roc Blanc, Escaldes-Engordany; and a 5:30pm Carnival craft session, "El nas vermell i la biblioteca màgica," for children to make clown mini-books at Encamp's communal library.
