Andorran musician Nicolás Vega, known as Makuka, released his second EP, *Somiadors de fang*, on Tuesday. The five-track release under the U98 label includes two Catalan songs—*Vulgar Drummer* and *La guerra no està bé*, both previously released as singles—and three English tracks: the ballads *The Date* and *Martina*, plus the rockier *Mr. Groove*.
In an interview with *El Periòdic*, Makuka said the EP centres on personal insecurities. He described *Vulgar Drummer* as focusing on overcoming obstacles, while *La guerra no està bé* emphasises shared humanity—"we are all human and come from the same place"—and the universal power of music and art. *Mr. Groove*, he added, warns against wasting time on distractions like mobile phones, capturing how it often slips away.
A common thread runs through the diverse themes, Makuka noted: in an unstable international context, the key message is to connect with those you truly love, which he called "returning home."
The songs had been ready for some time, reflecting his usual process of writing from a personal viewpoint about the surrounding world. Production moved quickly, spurred by the release of *La guerra no està bé*, which prompted bundling them into an EP to highlight the single and build his catalogue.
This marks Makuka's first project with U98, where he signed last year. He contrasted their professional handling of distribution and digital platforms with his self-managed debut EP, *Too much protagonism*. "I'm very happy and comfortable with the team," he said, praising their long experience.
The launch follows a strong phase, with top-10 radio airplay in Catalonia and a *Enderrock* cover. Studying music production in Paris, Makuka sees these as steps, not the finish line: "I keep doing what I do."
Live shows include a confirmed performance on 9 May at Vila-seca's FiM fair. An Ordino Festa Major gig is possible but unconfirmed, and he is seeking more concerts, festivals and events in Andorra and beyond.
